Steps to Update the HTC Rezound with ICS Android 4.0 Firmware



HTC Rezound users can also use the Ice Cream Sandwich for their smartphones as in the due course of this article we shall check out on how you can apply this update in your device. Please note that this firmware is not the official firmware update released by HTC and not the update which is 100% stable.

First let’s checking out the list of pre requisites you need to follow and then we will check out the detailed procedure. Please follow all the instructions mentioned below carefully to facilitate safe firmware update of your HTC rezound.




CAUTION: This update should not be applied to the phones which are NETWORK LOCKED. 
Essential Pre Requisites:

  • Though it’s not important and only optional to root HTC Rezound device. Ensure that you have unlocked and S – OFF is gained to ensure that device is updated successfully.
  • Now, keep all your data safe, you need to back up all the data present in your phone as in the process of firmware update the data present in your device may get lost or corrupted. You can easily backup all the data with the help of below mentioned tips. Don’t backup the data with the help of HTC Sync as after updating HTC Rezound won’t be recognized by the PC Suite.
  • Notes – Backup in the mail so that you can then restore manually
  • SMS Messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
  • Contacts Stored in Phone Memory – Sync with the Gmail application,
  • Call Log - Call Log and Restore
  • Videos, Images, Videos & Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
  • Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”.
  • All tools like the Antivirus, Firewall tools which are installed in your device should be uninstalled as these tools interrupt the process of firmware update. Also, additionally the minimum charge left in the phone should be a minimum of 60% to ensure that it doesn’t get turned off in the middle of firmware update.
Procedure to Update HTC Rezound with ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware:

  • Download HTC Rezound with ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware package in your computer and then connect the phone to the computer using the original USB Cable so that you can then copy the downloaded zip file. Also note that you need to rename zip to PH98IMG.zip and not to PH98IMG.zip.zip.
  • After copying the file, turn off the phone to enter the device into the boot loader mode and then to recovery mode. The Boot loader mode in HTC Rezound can be entered by pressing  Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Please note that in case if the device boots up in the normal mode, you need to again try entering into the boot loader mode.
  • In boot loader mode, you need to select the “Recovery” to enter the device in the recovery mode. Now, you need to select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the file which is named as “” and then as soon as you select the zip file it will take around 5 to 10 minutes for the firmware to get updated.
  • Once the firmware is updated, you will again land up to the recovery mode screen. In the recovery mode select “++++ Go Back ++++” > “reboot system now” for restarting the device in the ICS Android 4.0.3 firmware.



Tip: Restore the backup of all the data which you have made so as to ensure that all the settings and the other crucial data is restored.
